This is how we play the game
Phase 1: Starting in May 2021, The United States of Algorand launched. It was a 10 week series that dropped 1 state per week day. The cards mint count was based off the Electoral College Votes per State in the 2020 Election. California had 55 mints, while states like Delaware and Alaska had 3 mints. Cards were auctioned on Reddit in a starting bid format. Theoretically, all cards could have been given away for free. The project evolved over the course of the releases and gamification elements like Washington DC were added. The top 3 people who collected the most cards in the series would win a Gold, Silver, and Bronze version of the DC Card in order to round out all 538 Electoral College Votes.
Phase 2: Towards the end of the project, I partnered with CollectPHX to offer the elections. The elections are a fully passive function of the game where all you have to do is hold the cards. In doing so, you are entered to win the governor spot for each state that you hold. California has a 1/55 chance while states like Delaware and Alaska are 1/3. The lower the mint, the better your odds. There are four governor cycles per year (9/1, 12/1, 3/1, and 6/1). The President and Vice President Cycles take place on 9/1 every year. Each title comes with it’s own set of unique prizes that vary based on community participation!
